WANA (Dec 25) – In the aftermath of a plane crash which was an Azerbaijani passenger plane in the city of Aktau, Kazakhstan, today, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei issued separate messages expressing condolences to Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people over the loss of lives in the incident.

 

President Pezeshkian, in a message to President Aliyev, stated, “The news of the Azerbaijani plane crash has deeply saddened us. I extend my heartfelt condolences to Your Excellency, the beloved people of Azerbaijan, and especially to the families and relatives of the victims. I pray to the Almighty for mercy and forgiveness for the deceased and a swift recovery for the injured.”

 

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Baghaei also expressed his sympathies regarding the incident. Referring to the tragic crash of the Azerbaijani passenger plane en route from Baku to Grozny, he conveyed Iran’s condolences to the governments and people of Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, particularly the families of the victims. He further prayed for divine mercy for the deceased and swift healing for those injured.

 

The accident, which claimed the lives of several Azerbaijani citizens, has drawn international condolences and underscored the shared grief across the region. So far, at least 32 of the 67 passengers have survived, while more than 30 are presumed dead.
